With the council having already undertaken considerable community engagement as part of the de-amalgamation process the scope of this project was to facilitate the Council’s consideration of the issues facing the newly configured local government and its development of strategies to address those issues. The Corporate Plan preparation was where this would be done.
The facilitation comprised convening two workshops with Councillors and senior staff.
-
- Workshop 1 –
- Evaluation of Environment Scan.
- SWOT analysis.
- Vision development.
- Confirmation of Key Result Areas.
- Workshop 2 –
- Development of Strategic Goals, Priorities and Actions.
- Development of Key Performance Indicators.
- Assessment of Strategic Risks
Our facilitation of the corporate plan preparation assisted in capturing and documenting the critical information required to articulate Council’s intent and to establish the linkages between the corporate plan, the operational plan and organisational performance reporting.
We also provided advice on the development of appropriate templates, tools, procedures and policies to ensure the integration of the planning and delivery structures and helped develop the procedures necessary to underpin ongoing monitoring and quality assurance of the corporate planning process.
“In these matters Gary has evidenced his broad ability to relate to Councillors and Managers and different levels, understand the political and practical sensitivities involved, provide advice and support in a cooperative manner, feed group thought and facilitate consensus decision making. In addition to driving to highly professional outcomes, Gary has the ability to foster and support the development or the managers with whom he is dealing in a general learning environment.” – Roy Evans, Senior Advisor Organisational Development, Tablelands Regional Council
